IMAGES – Snow in the Desert…

This weekend, Southern California got hit with a rare combination of low temperatures and high precipitation levels.  This perfect blend brings snow to the areas just north of Los Angeles about once every decade and when it does, a mere half inch of powder instantly becomes the talk of the town.  Yesterday, when we realized it was coming, we packed up the family and drove about 5 miles to the area of Lake Castaic for some winter hiking.  While the kids had seen snow before… it was the first time they’d ever seen snow falling.  It made me feel like a 10 year old kid just watching them take it all in…
