Big Dreams…

September 21, 2009

When you live in or around Los Angeles (like other cities frequented by visitors), you tend to avoid the “touristy” areas whenever possible.  The only time you tend to visit these places is when you yourself are playing tour-guide to visiting family and friends — which I had the pleasure of doing this weekend.

Down in Santa Monica, on the promenade was a young man and his mother and their small audio-setup.  He was dressed to impress and she was acting every bit the manager I’m sure she hoped to be some day.  The din of the crowd and the other performers with larger, more powerful, sound-systems made it hard for this kid to be heard… but he just kept belting out the classic R & B for those who cared to listen.
